Police Appeal for Witnesses To Attempted Robbery in Southampton

Bassett Lock and Key, the local locksmiths for Southampton and surrounding areas.The Daily Echo have recently reported on a Police appeal, asking for witnesses to an attempted robbery that occurred on Sat 23rd May at approximately 3:30pm. The incident occurred on Earls Road in Portswood. A 28 year old man was reversing into a parking space when he was forced to brake sharply,. This was due to the fact that a man had walked behind his car.

The victim then shouted out of the window of his vehicle. In response to this, the suspect then proceeded to threaten the victim. He did this by leaning into the 28 year old’s car whilst holding a pair of bolt croppers close to the victim’s face. The victim was demanded to hand over his wallet.

The driver refused, got out of his car and walked away. On looking back at his car, the victim saw the male leaning in through his vehicle’s window. On noticing that he was being observed, the man then fled the scene empty handed.

The suspect male is described as being in his late 30’s or early 40’s, dark curly hair of skinny build and he is of mixed race. At the time of the attempted robbery, the man was wearing blue jeans, grey t-shirt, navy blue sleeveless hooded top and black sunglasses.
